Stop Piracy!!!

Posted by Ferdie Flores, MSCE, Philippine Wedding Photographer

Hi there! I’m not sure if I should blog about this or not. But i think for our protection here it goes…

“Image above courtesy of  wikipedia

From day 1, we’ve been promising ALL our clients one of the uniqueness of our works… “We do NOT use Album Templates!” This means, we start all designs from scratch which is the primary reason why it requires us longer time to do the albums. We want all our clients to have the notion that their album is something unique, something worth to be treasured for a lifetime.

Just yesterday, I received a friendly compliment from a visitor of ours. Due to my busy schedule, I seldom check out the websites of our visitor. But by intuition, I followed their website: link and to my surprise, one of our layout design was copied! They could’ve rearranged the pages o something. Exactly pirated!!!  Darn!

I’m referring to this “original” layout of ours… Ryan and Rizza’s wedding album. which was exactly copied by the above said Studio… and not even an acknowledgment.  I wonder if I could express a “strike” or if there is any legal action for this.

What’s hard about the above issue is that our clients know that they have a 1 of kind album and would be disgusted to see an album very much similar to theirs.  Megapixels stays true to it’s promise: we do not use wedding album templates, WE WILL DO YOUR ALBUM FROM SCRATCH… it should be unique, something distinct… it’s what make it special!

We’ve had a lot of visitors and some of them asking for new designs… and this is one of the reasons why we limit from showing our works online.

We welcome visitors, and openly greet fellow artists/photographers.  You can get some of our ideas as much as we could do with yours, you can stay as long as you want and even leave a comment.  We are not saying we are the better studio but please respect our works!!!

Very well said Ferdie — and we completely agree!

Hi Guys! Sungit ba? Hehe! I had a chat with our client “Ryan and Rizza…, very, very nice couple like you! They were actually flattered that their album was copied! So i guess, no harm done! I was able to to communicate with the culprit… everything went alright… he says appropriate actions will be done.

Thanks for visiting po pala! 🙂 sorry po ha! I haven’t started your tip… 🙂 Promise to do it by next week!

I happen to be one among studio owners rendering photo-video services in our town, Masinloc in Zambales. Year 2004 when I ventured to put up the first ever digital imaging services in this northern part of the province, with only my HP laptop and printer as tool. As a “pioneer”, I had been seeking ways to enhance and upgrade my knowledge and skills along this line of service. Browsing through broadsheets and magazines, as well as internet surfing were my main sources which I found most helpful.
It is actually in the internet that I learned a great deal of ideas and techniques on the subject, particularly those posted in yours, (Megapixel Studio) and in Mr. Ariel Javelosa’s website. Honestly, I could then say that I am able to duplicate faithfully and with relative ease 90% of your aesthetic creations.
Needless to say that the ideas and insights I acquired from your websites boosted my status from a mere run-of-the-mill photographer to one hotshot wedding photographer in our place. Having been inspired by your generous sharing of ideas and knowhow, I learned to develop my own style and artistry of rendering photo layouts and other computer-generated works to the satisfaction of my clients and patrons that I can likewise share with my co-photographers.
I just want to let you know how much I owe you for my personal successes along this line as my way of thanking you from the heart.

Hi JB.
Nicely said!

Thanks for visiting our site and thanks for leaving a comment and most especially for the compliments.
Actually, from the start I knew that posting our layouts online would lead us prone to duplication by others but not that we do not care, it was actually/supposedly for client’s information. Like you, it is also my way of sharing what I’ve learned from other people’s generosity.

I just hope that when people copy our works, they could make it some adjustments, such as rearranging the thumbnails, changing the fonts, hopefully they could make it even better. I was just surprised that the layout looked like as if we were using template.
On the other, as my client mentioned, it was actually flattering for them to see that their album was made a s template, it justified how nice their album really was!

Anyways, we hope you are enjoying your stay in our site. We wish you well and more power!

Hi Bro!

Nabuhay ka! Balitan ko nagkaproblema ka daw with your Lolo? 🙂

Nagulat din kami eh! When I was comparing it to the actual set, ganun na ganun pati yung text, yung arrengments… pati nga minsan yung shot! Ang galing! Heheh!

Ayos na yun bro! Pinoprotektahan ko lang naman ang company natin: “We always promise our clients their albums are all created from scratch. Which is also why it takes us longer to do our album layouts. Which is one of the main reason why we standout from the others!”

Hingi ka na lang ng Movie passes kay pareng Edu… Hingan mo nga ako ng copy ni Katrina… dehins ko pa napapanood yun eh! hehe!

Ingats! God Bless! C yah soon!

Hi! Im Wenz Garcia, 19 yrs old. . .

Same as Mr. Jerome Baylon, I was really inspired by your ideas happened to be hanging in the cyberspace, I was so lucky that last year 2008 i accidentally browsed your website and looked for your sample layouts.

Ive been lay-outing for weddings and birthdays when I was 16(for my father who is also a photographer). I used to experiment with the forms and appearance of each page. But when I saw your works, it revolutionize my creative juices into a new level.

I used to watch your site every single day especially when im doing my own. In other words, maybe i was getting your ideas without your permission. I’m sorry that I used yours’. . . but thank you for sharing it to a person just like me.

sa totoo lang po, naguilty ako nung nabasa ko ung blog nyo about this, “akalo ko po ako na yon”
hehehe

but as what you’ve said, “You can get some of our ideas as much as we could do with yours” here is the link of my layout using your idea, hehehe

This was my first “raket” as freelance photographer. Merts and Karen Wedding (Karen’s brother was my classmate)

Thanks Gib 🙂 Have we met? Sana soon! 🙂

Ferdie - August 9, 2009 - 1:32 am

Hi Wenz,

Thanks din po for expressing your gratitude. 🙂

Sorry if I made you feel guilty and I suppose so is with some of our visitors. So… no need to worry. Actually, our works are not really something out of this world, “madali naman talagang gayahin” pero when you visit the site I was talking about… matatawa ka kasi kopyang-kopya pati ang arrangement ng thumbnails pati nga yung images ginaya yung shots. Wala lang, kasi pwede namang palitan nila yun or nireaarrange man lang yung boxes. Para talagang template tulot ang album namin! Haha!

Hey, saw your works… I’ve seen a lot of other works but yours for a starting studio… Nice one! We’d probably work with each other soon! 🙂

Thanks for visiting and we hope to see you often!
